BOOK A CALL

Who’s on your team and will show up when you don’t even know you need them?

Last Friday I had my first major surgery. (Don’t worry - i'm on the road to recovery)

And through this process I’m having to plan to be supported in ways I never have before as recovery time is 6 weeks.

Since I live alone, I needed someone to:

Stay with me for the first day after
Grocery shop
Do laundry
Drive me around (if I need to go anywhere)
Lift any heavy objects (the struggle is real here folks! You don’t even realize that pulling open a dishwasher is off limits)

And so on.

And I’m incredibly blessed and grateful to have my parents and friends rallying around me and raising their hands to support me.

What was just as impactful were my clients, previous and current:

A previous client who is now a friend offer to fly in and stay with me.
Current clients who had become aware of my surgery sent me messages the day of my surgery wishing me a speeding recovery.
They also have checked on me after my surgery.
They’ve offered to send food or anything that would aid in my recovery.

And something as simple but equally impactful of saying a prayer for me.

And more often than not, I see leaders shy away from being vulnerable.

From allowing our teams, peers or clients to see us messy.

To see us as humans.

And we lose out on something incredibly special.

And so do they.

Everyone loses out on building and being in authentic relationships.

Allowing our teams, clients, peers or even boss to see, hear and acknowledge us.

We lost out on having a team of people willing to show up.

Surround us with love.

With support.

And with what we know we need and what we don’t know we need.

For me, that cost is simply too high.
