What gets in our way of achieving our goals?
For most of us when we create goals, we create something to level up whether it be personally or professionally.
- Grow my business 10x this year
- Generate $500M in revenue
- Hire 50 additional employees
- Implement a new technology
- Add 100 new clients
- Spending more time with family and friends
- Lose 50lbs this year
They’re typically something new and they mean something to us.
And then what’s predictable is we start experiencing fear.
Fear isn’t a bad thing, it’s actually a good thing, it means whatever you’re doing is supporting you in your growth. It’s pushing you past your boundaries.
However, when that fear translates into resistance it will have us doing everything possible but the thing we know to do to achieve our goal.
We’ll avoid working out, calling potential clients, attending networking events, identifying that new technology, posting that job etc. etc. etc.
And when we have nothing in place to combat that resistance - those goals fall to the waste side.
The number one thing you can do to avoid this from happening is putting structures in place sufficient to your resistance.
Let me say that one more time. Put structures in place sufficient to our resistance.
Structures can be your:
Family & Friends
Business Partners
Peers
Team members
Community
Workout buddy
A Coach
The more we talk about our goal and the more people we tell leads to higher accountability and with that higher accountability we have a higher likelihood of achieving that goal
