Dear Leaders, During Unprecedented Times Like These
During unprecedented times like these, companies are continuing to downsize or what some choose to say, “right size”. Letting a significant amount of its workforce go. What we fail to acknowledge during this time are the employees that were not impacted.
-
The ones that still have jobs.
-
The ones that will show up tomorrow to do the jobs of those that left.
We forget that those employees also suffered a loss.
-
A loss of friends.
-
A loss of friends in some cases who became family
-
A loss of familiarity
-
A loss of predictability.
Of comfort.
We fail to acknowledge their loss. And in most cases - view them as the lucky ones.
The reality is, just like the ones that were directly impacted. We need to also support the ones that were indirectly impacted as well.
They need to be provided with
-
An abundance of communication
-
Proper tools and resources
-
Direction
And most importantly - care.
While they may not have lost their job, they still suffered a loss.
It just looks different.
